June 2009- School re-opens (Scholar Brevis)
With the dawn of the academic year 2009-10, TVIS geared itself to set the hands of time moving around once again. The new members of faculty as well as the students were introduced on the very first day. This event served as the perfect platform to break the ice- breaking.
5th June 2009- World Environment Day
The World Environment Day was celebrated as a joint venture with the Idukki SPCA. Dr.Jayaprakash, Principal Scientist CTCRI; Trivandrum interacted with the students highlighting the significance of protecting and preserving our beautiful environment. The students of TVIS hostel presented a skit providing information about deforestation and climate change.
6th June 2009- The Open House
This is a platform for parents to propose suggestions for the school’s better performance and to achieve targets set for the ensuing academic year (PTA).
13th June 2009 - Kiliyoottu
Yet another green event organized at TVIS under the patronage of Sri Vijay Menon, faculty IAS Academy, was a humane gesture encompassing compassion and concern for the birds around us. After initiating the students to this novel act, Sri Vijay Menon, addressed the staff and students.
31st July 2009 - Investiture Ceremony
The investiture is an important and proud moment for the young leaders at TVIS. Mr. S B Sasikumar administered the oath and the leaders were sworn in. The guest of honour was Mr. K V Joseph, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Vigilance and Anti- Corruption Bureau, Idukki.
8th August - Inauguration of Interactive Digital Board and Robotic Lab
This day would go down in the annals of TVIS history as it heralded the School’s entry into the hi-tech world of teaching and learning with the installation of Interactive Boards in the class rooms and Robotic Lab. The Interactive Boards Installation was inaugurated by Sri. Ashok Kumar Singh, IAS, District Collector Idukki. The same day the Robotic Lab was also inaugurated by the guest of honour Sri. Ravi Dee Cee, CEO, DC Books.
15th August 2009 – Independence Day
63rd Independence Day was celebrated at TVIS to pay homage to our great national leaders who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our Country. Mr. Joseph Kuzhinjalil, who was in the attire of Gandhiji, addressed the students. He demonstrated the functioning of the ‘Spinning Wheel”. This was followed by a quiz on Gandhi.
28th August 2009 – Onam Celebrations
Respecting and accepting the diverse culture, TVIS celebrated Onam Fest 2009 with great pomp and festivities. Competitions were organized as a part of the celebrations for both the staff and students.
Teachers Day Celebrations
Since Sept 5 being a Saturday, Teacher’s Day was celebrated on Sept.7, Monday. Teachers were felicitated by Sri. R K Das, Managing Director, and Mrs. Sudha Das, Director, in the morning assembly specially convened.
10th September 2009 - Teacher Enrichment Programme
The most important investment a school management can make in a school is to ensure that the teachers continue to learn. Each teacher should equip himself/herself with the latest pedagogical trends invading the educational sector so as to gain high degree of proficiency and resourcefulness. To achieve this, the Management has decided to provide the ‘Teacher Enrichment Programme’, to the Academic Faculty of TVIS. This will be conducted once in a month for two days (on Fridays& Saturdays) by eminent educators and trainers from India’s leading Teacher Foundation, Bangalore.
COOKERY CLUB
Who doesn’t appreciate the skills of a gourmet? At TVIS, the students interested in pleasing the taste buds can try their hands at cooking various cuisines during the club time.
CO- CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Students at TVIS are offered a wide variety of co- curricular activities such as Public- speaking, Debate, Quizzing, Music, Cycling, Roller Skating, Karate, and Taekwondo.
COLOUR DAY
Colour Day is a very special day celebrated at TVIS. It is a day for the tiny tots. The students and teachers of the KG Section put on a particular colour dress on the day kept for that colour and thus instil the idea of colours in children.
1st October 2009 – visit to old age home
Taking care of the old is increasingly becoming a threat to the younger generation. In our present – day society, where money is the measure of everything, the elderly are looked upon as an economic liability and a social burden.
To make the students aware of the plight of old people a visit to the Old Age Home at Muthalakodam, accompanied by the Principal and 3 teachers.
French Fest at St.Teresa’s College, Ernakulam
Seven students from TVIS participated in the French Fest, conducted at St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam. Amongst the 11 schools and colleges, our school bagged the overall “Runners up Trophy”
2nd October 2009 – Gandhi Jayanti
Gandhi Jayanti was observed and the Inmates of TVIS Hostel engaged themselves in cleaning the school premises. Teachers also actively took part in the cleaning mission.
3rd October 2009 – Hindi Exhibition
Mr. A T Radhakrishnan, Dept. of Hindi, took great initiative and to generate interest and love for the ‘rashtra bhasha’. The day also witnessed the release of a book authored by Mr. Radhakrishnan. Mrs.Sudha Das, Director, released the book in the presence of Sri. R K Das, Principal, staff and students. |
